Shoot for the PIG Championship of the World

Former Steeler and Park Board member Matt Cushing will sign autographs at the annual competition.

A classic basketball game gets serious—and a former pro athlete will be there to prove it. The Downers Grove Park District’s second PIG Championship of the World returns to the Recreation Center, 4500 Belmont Road, at noon Saturday, March 19.

Players will shoot their way to glory and compete against others in their own age bracket. Bracket winners will compete for the title of “PIG Champion of the World.” Players can shoot from anywhere half court.

Matt Cushing, former Pittsburgh Steelers tight end and current Park Board commissioner will be available for photos and autographs. The event will also feature a free drawing for an autographed football.

The fee is $10 per youth player and $15 per adult or senior player. Register by March 13 at the Recreation Center, 4500 Belmont Road, Lincoln Center, 935 Maple Avenue or online at www.dgparks.org.

The championship is sponsored by Famous Dave’s BBQ , Play it Again Sports, Chipotle Mexican Grill and Honey Baked Ham.
