Township Supervisor is Moving On
After nearly sixteen years of service, Frank Wurster has retired as Downers Grove Township Supervisor.

After nearly sixteen full years of dedicated service to Downers Grove Township, Frank Wurster, Township Supervisor, is ready to retire and enjoy his golden years. Frank began his time with the Township as a Trustee in April 2001. His commitment to the responsibilities to residents motivated him to accept the appointment to Township Supervisor in January of 2009, completing the term of Barbara Wheat who left a vacancy with her retirement. He was then elected to the position and has fulfilled its’ responsibilities since that time. It is now time for him to move on.
Effective December 31, 2016, Frank will be officially retired from the position of Township Supervisor. The Township Board appointed Mark Thoman to fulfill the remainder of his term until the April 2017 election. Frank has been happy to serve the residents of the Township during his time year. When he retired after thirty-three years at Lucent Technologies, he never imagined that he would develop such a passion for service to the community in the political arena.
He first entered into public service in April of 1990 when he was elected committeeman for Downers Grove Township. As he began to work in this capacity, he developed a stronger desire to invest in the communities that he had raised his family in. This is why he eventually agreed to run for Township Trustee. The rest, as they say, is history.

When asked about his thoughts on public service, he was thoughtful for a moment then said, “I don’t believe that people should serve more than two terms in a major office. New people bring with them new ideas and I think that’s a good thing.”
Frank, thank you for your years of service to the residents of Downers Grove Township. You have left behind a number of accomplishments that have benefited its’ residents. You will be missed.
