Elmhurst Sees 15% Spike In Virus Cases In Last 10 Days: County

Nearly 200 more cases are reported in Elmhurst. State also sees big increase.

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst saw a 15 percent increase in coronavirus cases in the last 10 days, according to the DuPage County Health Department.

As of Sunday, the number of cases was 1,422. That was up by 187 cases over the county's number a week before. According to the health department, it did not receive statistics from the state Department of Public Health for the three days before the latest week, which may explain the higher than usual percentage increase in local cases.

As of Sunday, coronavirus-related deaths in Elmhurst numbered 48 since the pandemic's beginning, one more than a week earlier.
