York High Damage, T-Mobile Thefts: Elmurst Police

Suspects inquire about phones and then rip 11 phones and two watches from display counters, police say.

ELMHURST, IL — Thefts at a phone store and damage at York High School were among the calls in recent days at the Elmhurst Police Department. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police blotter:

  • Two suspects entered the T-Mobile store, 361 S. Route 83, inquired if the store sold iPads and then proceeded to rip 11 iPhones and two Apple Watches from the display counters. It happened about 3 p.m. May 14. The two suspects were described as black and 25 years old. One was 5 feet, 7 inches, having a thin build and a light complexion, and wearing a blue surgical mask and a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up. The other had dreadlocks and a stocky build, was 5 feet, 7 inches, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the hood up.
  • A damaged goal post, multiple beer cans and a white twin size mattress were found in the middle of a field at York High School, 355 S. Charles Road. The incident happened overnight May 15.
  • Maddie Bossert, 24, of Dwight, was arrested about 6:30 p.m. May 14 at Lake and Route 83 on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, DUI (drugs), possession of drug paraphernalia, driving too fast for conditions and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. According to a police report, she was in a traffic crash and found to be with heroin. Also arrested was Kurt Varney, 35, of Boynton, Fla. He faces charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. They were taken to the DuPage County Jail.
  • Vincent Thomas Enriquez, 41, of Darien, was arrested about noon May 15 in the 800 block of South Mitchell on a warrant. He was released on bond. According to a police report, he was arrested after a soliciting complaint.
  • John Cosgrove, 37, of Evanston, was arrested about 4:30 a.m. May 16 in the 600 block of North County Line Road on a charge of criminal trespass to a vehicle. He was released on bond. According to a police report, the victim said Cosgrove stole his car and brought it back.
  • Anthony Limardo, 28, of Northlake, was arrested about 10 p.m. May 16 at York and Diversey on charges of DUI (drugs), driving with a suspended license and endangering the life of a child. He was released on bond.
  • Kevin Erdenberger, 22, of Park Ridge, was arrested about 8 a.m. May 17 at Route 83 and North on charges of DUI, possession of ammunition without a firearm owner's identification card, unlawful possession of marijuana and improper parking in the roadway. He was released on bond.
  • A package was stolen about 8:30 a.m. May 14 in the 400 block of Hill Avenue. A resident told police that three teenagers — two girls and a boy — took the package from a neighbor's house. The suspects left in a white SUV, possibly a Dodge Durango or a Jeep Grand Cherokee. One girl was white, 5 feet, 5 inches, thin, and wearing dark pants and a dark hooded sweatshirt. The second girl was white, 5 feet, 5 inches to 5 feet, 8 inches, heavyset, and wearing bright pants and a dark hooded sweatshirt. The boy was black, up to 6 feet tall, thin, and wearing dark pants, a black sweatshirt and an orange construction vest. The fourth suspect was driving the car; no description was available.
  • Firefighters responded to a fire at 8:30 a.m. May 14 at a house in the 600 block of Hawthorne. A resident said that during a rainstorm, he saw a large flash out of his front window, followed by smoking coming from the neighbor's attic area. Firefighters put out the fire.
  • A man was observed taking pictures inside Jewel, 153 E. Schiller, about 1 p.m. May 14. Upon seeing that store employees were watching him, he quickly exited the store, entered a car and immediately left the area.
  • A victim in the 100 block of East First Street reported that a suspect stole his iPad as she took other belongings on May 14 or May 15. An officer made attempts to reach the suspect, but was unsuccessful. The investigation continues.
  • Four tires were removed from a semi-tractor in the back parking lot at 441 W. Lake St. between 3 p.m. May 15 and 9 a.m. May 16. It is part of a string of tire thefts in recent weeks in Elmhurst.
  • A wine kit was stolen from an unlocked car overnight May 16 at S & F Painting, 841 S. Poplar.
