York High First Of Its Kind To Reopen In DuPage: Official
"That is something we should celebrate," the superintendent says.

ELMHURST, IL — On Monday, York High School's freshmen went to class in person for the first time. They were the first general education public high school students in DuPage County to do so, an official said.
"I think there was a ton of work that went into that by everybody," Superintendent Dave Moyer told the school board. "That is something we should celebrate."
This coming Monday, seventh and 10th graders are expected to return to class. The following week, grades 8, 11 and 12 are set to come back. With that, all students will be able to participate in person. They will be following a hybrid model, which is a blend of in-person and remote lessons.

"Being able to maintain and sustain this over a period of time will be a challenge," Moyer said. "We have to keep people healthy in order to do that. The decisions people make outside school will be just as important as anything we do."
Later in the school board meeting, Moyer told members about various ways the schools could test every student for the coronavirus daily for a number of weeks. This could happen later this semester, early next or both, he said, but such testing would cost hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The board said it was open to such ideas and urged the superintendent to conduct a further investigation.
