Kane County Animal Control To Offer Drive-Thru Rabies Vaccines

The county will host its annual rabies vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in Geneva.

KANE COUNTY, IL — Pet owners in Kane County can take their furry friends to get their rabies shots at the county’s annual vaccination clinic Saturday in Geneva. This year’s clinic will use a drive-thru system to keep workers and residents safe amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Volunteers and workers from the county’s Animal Control division will transport pets from residents’ vehicles to the exam station, where a doctor will conduct tests and administer vaccinations, according to a news release. A clerk will remain at the car to complete the rabies certificate and payment, the release states.

After medical crews conduct the exams and administer vaccinations, a veterinarian will speak to pet owners in their vehicles, the release states.

Animal control staff members will be wearing masks, gloves and medical-grade tops to ensure the safety of the pets and their owners, the release states. The exam station will be cleaned in between each client. Officials are asking pet owners to wear a mask and remain in their cars at the clinic.

Geneva Garage Sale Canceled, But Swedish Days To Return Virtually

The clinic runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Kane County Animal Control building at 4060 Keslinger Road in Geneva. A one-year rabies vaccine will cost $20 for a neutered pet, $35 for non-neutered pets, and $10 for seniors with pets. Pet owners can also purchase microchip identification tags for $15, the release states.
