Glen Ellyn Encourages Vigilance, Increases Police Patrols

Police say there were no looting incidents reported in Glen Ellyn, but recommended that residents remain vigilant.

GLEN ELLYN, IL — The village of Glen Ellyn is increasing its police presence and urging residents to take safety measures after criminal activity and looting was reported in nearby towns Sunday in the wake of George Floyd's death. In an update, police officials said there were no incidents in Glen Ellyn, but added that the police department will continue to monitor the situation.

In the update, police said, "Residents and community members are reminded and encouraged to pay attention to your surroundings and dial 911 in the event you observe criminal activity."

The DuPage County Sheriff's Office told Patch several looting attempts were thwarted Sunday. In nearby Downers Grove, a looting incident was reported at the Best Buy at 1432 Butterfield Rd.
