Changes Announced at Glenview Park District

Longtime superintendent retires while District makes new hire.

Changes in management positions at the Glenview Park District will come as the month of June ends.

In a pair of memos released Friday, the district announced Lori Lovell has been chosen as its new superintendent of special facilities while longtime District employee Robert Quill will retire as superintendent of leisure services at the end of the month.

Lovell comes to the park district with “results-driven experience” in both the public and the private sectors, according to the memo. She has an extensive background in facility management, program administration and oversight of operational and capital budgets.

“Lori will be a great addition to our team here at the park district,” said Executive Direction Michael McCarty. “She has worked with other park districts in the region and has a strong foundation for understanding the needs of our organization. Her experience with park districts is coupled with her work with community health organizations in the private sector. We are excited for the new ideas Lori will bring to our team.”

Lovell most recently served as the director of the Good Samaritan Health and Wellness Center and the Good Samaritan Hospital Community Health. As superintendent of special facilities, Lovell will be responsible for overseeing all activities at Glenview Park Golf Club, Glenview Prairie Club, Glenview Ice Center and Glenview Tennis Club.

Quill, who has been employed by the District since 1973, oversees Park Center, Historic Wagner Farm, The Grove, Air Station Prairie, Schram MemorialChapel, Flick Pool, Roosevelt Pool, The East Wing and the Glenview Park Foundation. His final day will be June 30.

“During my tenure, I have been fortunate to see the park district more than double in size, both in acreage and services,”he said. “The needs of the community changed, and the district responded and grew to serve the community.

We were able to acquire nearly 53 additional acres at The Grove, acquire Historic Wagner Farm, Air Station Prairie and the land where Community Park West now sits. With these acquisitions came construction, such as the building of Park Center, Flick and Roosevelt Pools, the pavilion at The Grove, and the Heritage Center at the farm. It has been an exciting time to work in the district with so many unique opportunities for expansion.”

“Bob Quill’s service and dedication to the Glenview Park District is admirable,” said Executive Director Michael McCarty. “I am fortunate that I had a few months working with Bob prior to his retirement, but even more fortunate to know he will remain a Glenview resident. In the short time I have known him, I can tell you he is well respected by staff, the community and colleagues throughout the state. He will be greatly missed.”
