GLENVIEW, IL — The following information comes from the Glenview Police Department (unless otherwise noted) and court records as a record of police activity, including incidents reported by the public and those arrested by police. Oleksandr Kasiyan, 57, of the 700 block of W. Berkley Drive, Arlington Heights, is accused of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, following too closely, operating an uninsured motor vehicle, and was arrested at 4:50 p.m. Dec. 15, following a crash investigation in the 9800 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of Jan. 13, 2025.

DRIVING ON A SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Kodjo Apety, 41, of the 8900 block of David Place, Des Plaines, is accused of driving on a suspended license, speeding 15 to 20 mph over the speed limit, possession of a suspended driver's license, and was arrested at 12:51 p.m. Dec. 11, following a traffic stop in the 900 block of Milwaukee Avenue. He was released and assigned a court date of Jan. 14, 2025.

INCIDENTS

TRESPASS WARNING

Employees of a business in the 2700 block of Willow Road reported at 12:12 p.m. Dec. 10, a former employee had come to the store to drop off a key and was shouting at employees, blocking the drive-thru with their vehicle. They were given a trespass warning not to return.

UNWANTED PERSON

Employees of a business in the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue called police at 5:56 p.m. Dec. 10, to report a customer, who resides in Chicago, came to the lobby and was upset with the size of the room, demanding a free upgrade, which the employee would not provide. The customer began yelling, swearing, and filming the employees. The customer left after being told the police were called.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE

A Jenna Road resident called police at 9:41 a.m. Dec. 11, to report they had rented a condo they own to a person. The person wrote the owner a check for $2,450 for the final rent payment, but the check was returned for insufficient funds for a closed account. The person was not returning the owner's calls.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A resident of the 2800 block of Leanne Court reported that at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 11, all three of their Ring cameras went offline. After returning home, they saw the wood rod from the sliding door was on the floor and the door was off track, slightly ajar. There were items rummaged through throughout the house.

RETAIL THEFT

Employees of a business in the 1900 block of Tower Drive reported at 2:13 p.m. Dec. 12, a female, about 5-foot-7, 25 to 35 years old, with a medium build, wearing a blue puffer jacket, blue leggings, and a leopard print purse, take several Nike Men’s Tech Fleece Full Zip items, estimated at $1,080. She walked past the last point of purchase without paying for the merchandise and left the store.

IDENTITY THEFT

A Golf Court resident reported at 2:49 p.m. Dec. 12, they had several issues with their identity being compromised over the last couple of months. Their Experian account recently had changes to the password, phone number and address, so they can no longer access the account to monitor their credit. No known financial loss at this time.

FORGERY

A resident in the 900 block of Buccaneer Drive reported at 3:47 p.m. Dec. 12, paying two bills with checks that were dropped off at the post box near their home on Nov. 9. The checks were altered for $8,500 and $3,162, neither of which were the original amounts and no changes were authorized.

BATTERY

  • A store manager for a business in the 2700 block of Willow Road called police at 9:26 a.m. Dec. 13, to report an employee who was just terminated was causing a disturbance and pushed another employee. The person said they were upset after being terminated but denied pushing anyone. The person was issued a Village Ordinance citation for battery and trespassed from the business.
  • Police responded to the 1800 block Tanglewood Drive at 1:30 a.m. Dec. 15, following a reported fight at a business in the 1800 block of Waukegan Road. A Wheeling resident had struck an unknown victim in the face with a beer bottle, which caused several other fights to break out. The Wheeling man and victim fled the scene, but he was later found yelling in the street. There are no complaints to be signed at this time due to the victim not being identified.

THEFT

A Basswood Circle resident reported on Dec. 13, that they had secured their bike at the Metra Train Station, 1116 Depot St., two days earlier at around 7 a.m. When they returned at 5 p.m., the bike lock had been cut and the bike was stolen. They described the bike as being a light blue, Cannodale Quick Hybrid, 27 speed bike.

ROBBERY

Police responded to a business in the 3400 block of Milwaukee Avenue at 5:13 p.m. Dec. 14, for a report of a robbery that just occurred. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the business owner, who said an unknown male entered the business and paid for their services. They complained and asked for a refund. As the victim was giving the person a refund, the person punched the victim, then stole cash from the desk, and the victim's cell phone. The person fled in an unknown direction and is described as a tall, wearing dark clothing, hooded sweatshirt, and sunglasses. Estimated loss is $1,000.

INTOXICATED PERSON

A manager of a business in the 1400 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported at 10:48 p.m. Dec. 14, a guest was intoxicated and being belligerent. The manager said the guest, a resident of the 1100 block of Castilian Court, would not leave the bar, was yelling profanities, and would not return to their room. Officers spoke with the guest, who eventually agreed to leave the bar area and rest in the second-floor lounge, where they said they would not bother hotel guests or staff. The manager agreed that was fine and officers left the scene. At around 4:37 a.m. the next day, the guest returned to the hotel lobby, where they started yelling at staff. The guest was trespassed from the property and agreed to leave.
