School Shooting Threat At Glenbrook South Ahead Of Homecoming
Increased security will be in place for the GBS homecoming parade and dance after a note warning of a school shooting was found Thursday.

GLENVIEW, IL — Police are investigating who wrote a message warning of a school shooting on the back of a desk in a classroom at Glenbrook South High School. According to Principal Lauren Fagel, administrators were informed of the threat Thursday afternoon and immediately reported it to police. Additional security precautions would be in place during homecoming weekend, Fagel said in a message to students and parents Friday afternoon.
“There will be a school shooting on Sept 25th 2018,” said the message, which was reported by two students around 2:30 p.m., according to Fagel. The principal encouraged anyone who sees something suspicious to alert school staff and commended the students who reported the message.
“We take all reported issues seriously and will continue to conduct a thorough investigation,” Fagel said. She explained there would be additional security at all on-campus events throughout homecoming weekend. No changes to the schedule of events for the weekend had been made as of Friday afternoon, according to Fagel.
