Driving complaint leads to DUI arrest; HP man faces battery charge; four catalytic converters pilfered: Highland Park Police Blotter

HIGHLAND PARK, IL — The following information comes from the Highland Park and Highwood police departments and public records as a record of incidents reported to the police and of those arrested by police. Criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Lake County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
STOLEN CAR FOUND
Someone stole a possibly unlocked BMW from the parking lot of the Highland Park Rec Center, 1207 Park Ave. W., at some point between 3 and 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 29. A purse had been left inside with a phone, wallet and credit cards that were later used fraudulently. Police in Milwaukee found the car three days later.
PACKAGE THEFT
A package delivered by the U.S. Postal Service on Dec. 21 between 7 and 10:52 a.m. was reported missing on Jan. 7.

SHOPLIFTING
- Staff at the Walgreens, 655 Elm Place, reported around 7 p.m. on Dec. 27 that a man had stolen several items from the cosmetics department of unknown value about an hour earlier.
- Two male shoplifters stole more than $2,500 worth of cosmetics from the Ulta Beauty store at 135 Skokie Valley Road around 8 p.m. on Dec. 30, police were told nearly 24 hours later.
- Someone stole a Fender Acoustasonic Telecaster guitar in sunburst color worth about $2,160 from The Guitar Center, 143 Skokie Valley Road, at some point between Jan. 3 and Jan. 5.
- Two female shoplifters stole more than $1,000 worth of cosmetics from the Ulta, 135 Skokie Valley Road, between 4:10 and 4:15 on Jan. 5, police were told 48 hours later.
- Between 4:52 and 5:10 p.m. on Jan. 7, two female shoplifters stole approximately $916 worth of cosmetic items.
CATALYTIC CONVERTER THEFTS

- Someone stole the catalytic converted from a Nissan minivan parked in a lot in the 3100 block of Skokie Valley Road between 9 a.m. Dec. 25 and 11 a.m. Dec. 27.
- Between 3 p.m. Dec. 29 and 9 a.m. Dec. 30, someone stole a catalytic converter from a pickup truck in a parking lot in the 3100 block of Skokie Valley Road.
- Someone stole a catalytic converter from a Prius that had been parked in the lot of a store in the 2000 block of Skokie Valley Road between 6 and 6:20 p.m. on Dec. 29.
- Between 6 p.m. Dec. 1 and 6:30 a.m. Dec. 2, someone stole a catalytic converter from a Prius that had been parked in a driveway in the 800 block of Highland Place.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Juan F. Padilla, 42, of the 1800 block of 58th Avenue, Cicero, was arrested around 4 a.m. on Jan. 1 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after officers dispatched to a complaint about a driver pulled him over near the Edens Expressway and Lake Cook Road. Officers also issued him citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and improper lane usage.
William M. Rudoll, 32, of the 2000 block of St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park, was arrested around 12:15 a.m. on Jan. 1 and charged with two counts of misdemeanor domestic battery after officers got a call of a fight at his home.
Edwin Luis Feliciano, 31, of the 1500 block of Hillcrest Avenue, Hanover Park, turned himself in around 4 p.m. on Jan. 7 on a warrant stemming from an allegation that he failed to appear in court following a previous arrest in Highland Park on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
