JOLIET, IL — A 2021 Joliet Chick-fil-A customer, Janice Hollenbeck, has retained a law firm in Chicago to file a negligence civil lawsuit at the Will County Courthouse against the Chick-fil-A restaurant at 2705 Plainfield Road.

Hollenbeck's lawsuit is seeking a jury verdict in her favor of more than $50,000 in regard to her experience at the Chick-fil-A back on Nov. 6, 2021, during the first year that the Joliet Chick-fil-A was open for business.

According to her complaint, filed by attorney Haig Himidian of Taxman, Pollock, Murray & Bekkerman, Chick-fil-A "carelessly and negligently caused and permitted said premises to become and remain in a dangerous condition for persons using said premises, although defendant Chick-fil-A knew, or in the exercise of ordinary and reasonable care should have known, of said dangerous condition."

Hollenbeck walked into the entrance of the Chick-fil-A on Plainfield Road in Joliet and "came into contact with a floor mat that was placed in the immediate vicinity of the entrance ... Plaintiff was caused to have her foot caught on the floor mat at the entrance of said restaurant, and tripped and fell to the ground," her lawsuit contends.

The Joliet Chick-fil-A customer sustained "severe and permanent injuries, both externally and internally, and was and will be hindered and prevented from attending to her usual duties and affairs and has lost, and will, in the future lose, the value of that time as aforementioned," her lawsuit noted.
