JOLIET, IL —If you were surprised by last week's announcement from Joliet's City Hall that Cajun Boil & Bar faced a seven-day suspension for holding improper live entertainment events inside the Louis Joliet Mall, there's an update to report.

Cajun Boil & Bar is back in business. On Thursday afternoon, employees at the Louis Joliet Mall sit-down restaurant informed Joliet Patch they reopened for business the day prior, Wednesday, Dec. 28.

However, Cajun Boil & Bar's liquor license won't be reinstated until next Tuesday, according to the restaurant's general manager. During Thursday's interview, she told Joliet Patch the seven-day suspension resulted from a miscommunication, or misunderstanding, between Cajun Boil & Bar and city of Joliet officials.

The restaurant also advertised an event called "Naughty F#*k Nice" featuring music by TMAC WTF, Dre Wicked and Aintchuleek, that was supposed to take place on Saturday, Dec. 24, until city officials stopped it from happening.

On Thursday, the mall restaurant's general manager told Joliet Patch it remained unclear whether Cajun Boil & Bar would be hosting live entertainment events in the future.

Lawyers representing the mall claim that Cajun Joliet defaulted on "no less than $304,935 in rent and other charges due. For each month Tenant continues to occupy the premises, Tenant will owe additional rent and charges to landlord under the lease," the 2021 lawsuit states.
