1 Death, 7 Cases Of Coronavirus At Marley Oaks: IDPH

The facility is disputing the new data from IDPH and the county, saying the facility has had no new cases since the beginning of April.

MOKENA, IL — Marley Oaks Assisted Living Residence, otherwise known as Marley Oaks, has seven reported cases of coronavirus and one related death, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported May 8. Will County Health Department spokesman Steve Brandy told Patch Monday that the seven cases include six residents and one staff member.

Marley Oaks is disputing the data, and administrator Pam West told Patch the facility has not reported any new cases since the beginning of April.

IDPH is now sharing the case numbers of residents and staff of long-term care facilities. The data is reported starting from the beginning of the coronavirus response on Jan. 24. Numbers are current as of May 8.

The cases included in the data include lab confirmed cases and cases meeting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention outbreak case definition. Facilities report the data to local health departments, who then report to the Illinois Department of Public Health.

"The health and well-being of our residents is always our main concern. Our goal is to provide the best care to our residents," Administrator Pam West told Patch previously."We treat them like they are one of own family members."

West said previously the facility has restricted visitation, sanitizing, resident isolation, monitoring and disinfecting protocols in place.

The facility is located at 12631 W. 187th St. in Mokena.

In Will County, IDPH is reporting there are 645 cases of coronavirus in long-term care facilities and 111 related deaths. Meadowbrook Manor of Bolingbrook now has the highest number of cases in the county, as well as the highest number of coronavirus related deaths in Will County. The facility has 173 cases, and 26 related deaths, according to IDPH.
