Montgomery Police Interviewing Two Suspects in Shooting
Three people surrendered, one by one, after Aurora police responded to a report of a barricaded suspect.

A victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and two suspects are in custody in connection with a shooting Friday afternoon in Montgomery, police said.
Montgomery Police Chief Daniel Meyers said police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Melrose and Elliot. Officers who arrived on the scene found blood and shell casings, and learned that the victim was driven to an Aurora hospital, police said. Police did not identify the victim.
“Upon further investigation, witnesses stated the two suspects involved in the shooting went to a house in the 1100 block of Homer Avenue in Aurora,” Meyers said. As officers approached the house, people inside closed the curtains and shades, and put a mattress in front of the window, he said.

According to Meyers, nearby Krug Elementary was put on hard lockdown and parents picking up children from school were routed north on Parker Court to Parker Avenue.
Meyers said a perimeter was established around the Homer Avenue house and the Aurora Police Department Special Response Team and negotiators were contacted.

Aurora police previously identified only the 19-year-old as a suspect, saying the Homer Avenue home belonged to the suspect’s friends. According to police, two people, a man and a woman, exited the home after 6 p.m., followed by the 19-year-old suspect at around 7:20 p.m.
According to Montgomery police, all three were taken into custody.
“After several hours of negotiations, three persons surrendered one at a time and were taken into police custody,” Meyers said.
Meyers referred to the two men as suspects in the shooting, telling reporters, “Our detectives are interviewing the two suspects to determine who did what,” the Beacon-News reported. He reportedly said he expects the 19-year-old will be charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, with additional charges pending.
The 19-year-old suspect is wanted by Kendall County Sheriff’s police on felony burglary charges, according to Meyers.
Police did not identify the three people taken into custody.
