NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
ARRESTS
DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE
Michael Alexander, 19, of the 1600 block of Mission Hills, Northbrook is accused of driving under the influence, driving an uninsured vehicle, speeding, making an improper turn signal, and was arrested at 4:30 a.m. Aug. 2 at Prestwick and Landwehr. He was given a $1,000 bond and a court date of Sept. 16.

INCIDENTS
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
- A resident in the 3400 block of Prestwick reported at 1:54 p.m. July 30 that they found a storm window slightly open. Officers checked and did not believe that entry was made to the residence.
- A resident in the 2300 block of Catherine Street called police at 11:58 a.m. Aug. 3 to report that at around 2:30 a.m. an unknown type of car stopped in front of the residence and someone exited the car and checked the resident’s car doors then left. No description of the person was given.
TRESPASS TO VEHICLE

A person called police at 2:33 p.m. July 30 to report that upon returning to their vehicle in the 1100 block of Willow Road after work, they found a door slightly open. The complainant did not believe that anything was missing for the vehicle and there were no signs of forced entry.
ATTEMPTED BURGLARY
A resident in the 1300 block of Church Street reported at 6:20 p.m. Aug. 1 that a male Hispanic, described as being heavy set, entered the rear door of their residence and asked for $100 and to use their bathroom. The resident did allow the man into the home and initially believed that he was from their landscaping company, however, they later learned that the man was not. The resident then observed the man leave a bedroom in the house. The resident yelled at the man, and he left the residence. Nothing known was taken.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
A complainant at PF Chang's 1800 block of Lake Cook Road, called police at 7:09 p.m. Aug. 2 to report that a white male, described as being 30 – 40 years old, wearing a hat and a surgical mask, entered the establishment to pick up an order. The male became angry while waiting for the order when told that a drink was not ready. The man upon leaving caused damage to an exterior door support bar.
BATTERY
Officers responded to Glenbrook Hospital at 1:15 a.m. Aug. 3 regarding a call of male who had been shot in the 1100 block of Willow Road. Officers learned that the male was transported to the emergency room by his girlfriend for the treatment of a gunshot wound which, reportedly had recently occurred. The victim of the shooting had non-life threatening injuries, and both he and his girlfriend refused to cooperate any further with the investigation.
IDENTITY THEFT
An Ellendale Drive resident reported at 10:51 a.m. Aug. 3 that they received a letter from the Alabama Department of Labor regarding unemployment benefits. The resident did not register for such benefits.
COUNTERFEITING
An employee of Lisa's Boutique, 4100 block of Dundee Road, called police at 1:20 p.m. Aug. 2 to report that a black female, described as being very tall, presented a folded $100 bill as payment for an $11 purchase. The transaction was completed and the female left the store. A short time later, the bill was checked and found to be counterfeit.
SOLICITOR COMPLAINT
A resident in the 1200 block of Hillsdale Road reported at 8:20 p.m. Aug. 3 a female and male came to their door soliciting for cable services. The two were located in the area and found to not have valid solicitor permits. The two were informed on the process of registering and left the area.
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
- A resident in the 1800 block of Barberry Road called police to report that during the overnight hours of Aug. 3 that someone entered their unlocked vehicle and removed approximately $200 in U.S. currency from the center console.
- A resident in the 2300 block of Maple Avenue reported that during the overnight hours of Aug. 4 someone entered their unlocked vehicle and removed approximately $20 in coins.
CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
- A person reported at 9:15 a.m. Aug. 3 that someone had placed graffiti on the gazebo at Village Green, 1800 block of Walters Avenue.
- An employee of Subway, 1900 block of Cherry Lane called police at 1:18 p.m. Aug. 6 to report someone painted graffiti on the windows. No offenders were seen.
THEFT FROM VEHICLE
A person reported at 6:44 p.m. Aug. 4 that someone removed four tires from their car sometime between July 31 and Aug. 4 at The Court of Harborside.
BURGLARY
An owner of a business in the 2000 block of Shermer Road called police at 6:37 a.m. Aug. 5 to report that when they arrived home, they observed a side door propped open by a board. Complainant reported that several pieces of construction equipment were missing. Aug. 6 that someone, no description given, gained entry through a window located in the rear of the building. The person attempted to gain access to a cash register but was unsuccessful. Nothing was known to have been taken.
THEFT
- A Caribou Crossing resident reported at 1:08 p.m. Aug. 5 that they observed an ad on a social media site for an item for sale. The resident made contact with the seller and agreed to send funds for the item. The resident states that since sending the funds, they have not received the item, and now can no longer contact the seller.
- A resident in the 1000 block of Sunset Ridge called police at 2 p.m. Aug. 5 to report they found several pieces of jewelry missing from a dresser drawer.
- A resident in the 3000 block of Dundee Road reported at 3:02 p.m. Aug. 6 that upon returning home after an appointment, they noticed that someone had removed money from their wallet.
SUSPICIOUS PERSON
A resident in the 2800 block of Weller Lane called police at 3:59 p.m. Aug. 6 to report that upon returning home, they were notified by a neighbor that a woman had entered the residence and then ran out of the home when the resident pulled into the driveway. Nothing was reported missing.
