UPS Driver Shoved Into Packages; Water Department Ruse: Blotter
A UPS Driver was confronted by a person and pushed near their truck; another ruse burglary occurred at residence: Northbrook Police Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A resident in the 700 block of York Court reported that between 2:45-3:55 p.m. July 16 a man claiming to be from the water department was invited into the residence after stating that the meter needed to be tested. The resident stated that once inside, the man was speaking with another person on a walkie-talkie in a foreign language. It was found after the man left, that several areas of the residence were rummaged through and various items were missing.

THEFT
- A resident in the 2800 block of Beckwith Court called police at 8:20 p.m. June 30 to report an unknown person took their lawn mower without permission.
- A person reported at 7:35 p.m. July 16 someone took their bicycle from the Leisure Center, 3300 block of Walters Avenue.
- An employee at Dairy Queen, 2700 block of Dundee Road, called police at 10:13 a.m. July 21 to report they were missing money from their purse after working their shift. The employee also reported that money was missing from a cash register drawer.
- A person reported at 12:11 a.m. July 23 that two males were observed taking a sign from the area of Highland Road and Talia Lane.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO VEHICLE

- A resident in the 2800 block of Dundee Road reported that during the overnight hours of July 16 someone punctured the sidewall of their car tire.
- A person called police at 11:30 p.m. July 22 to report that while their vehicle was parked in the 2500 block of Walters Avenue, an unknown person broke out the rear window of their vehicle.
BATTERY
A UPS driver called police at 2:36 p.m. July 17 to report having a verbal disagreement with another person while loading their truck in the 2500 block of Shermer. During the disagreement, things escalated and at one point the driver stated the other person pushed them backwards into a stack of packages.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
A person reported at 12:21 p.m. July 18 graffiti on a traffic control box in the area of Western and Techny.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE
A resident in the 2100 block of Mayapple called police at 10:39 a.m. July 19 to report while going through a filing cabinet, they found that various personal and financial documents were missing.
DISPUTE
A resident in the 1000 block of Sanders Road reported at 12:12 p.m. July 20 that they were having a dispute over the payment of previously agreed upon and already paid for work. The resident stated that the other party wanted additional funds involving electrical work.
VANDALISM
A resident in the 1000 block of Blackthorn called police at 9:36 p.m. July 20 to report an unknown vehicle approached their residence and three females exited the vehicle and threw eggs at the house.
BURGLARY
A resident in the 2200 block of Post Road reported at 2:54 p.m. July 21 an unknown person came to their door claiming to represent the township. The person stated that they needed to show the resident where the township would be digging for a flooding project. While the resident was speaking with this person, a second person entered the residence. The first person then asked the resident to go to the backyard to look at the area. The resident was outside the residence with the person for a brief period of time, then they abruptly left. The resident then went back into the residence and discovered that various items were missing.
ILLEGAL DUMPING
A person in the 1000 block of Waukegan Road reported that between July 15-22 someone threw a television set in the dumpster at Domino's without permission.
RETAIL THEFT
An employee at Best Buy, 1000 block of Willow Road, called police at 6:10 p.m. July 22 to report a man was observed taking two TVs from the store without paying for the items.
