Mailbox Fireworks; Permitless Pest Control Pestering: Blotter
A resident's mailbox was damaged by fireworks; pest control employees were soliciting without permits: Northbrook Police Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCE
A resident in the 4300 block of Yorkshire Lane reported at 10:52 p.m. June 11 that an unknown person rang their doorbell then departed before they could answer the door. The subject was observed riding a bicycle away from the area.

CRIMINAL DEFACEMENT
An employee of Village Hall, 1225 Cedar Lane, called police at 10:56 a.m. June 12 to report someone used spray paint on the sidewalk.

IDENTITY THEFT
- A Maple Avenue resident reported at 2:09 p.m. June 12 that they were contacted by their bank that numerous suspicious charges were made against their account.
- An Oak Avenue resident called police at 10:37 a.m. June 18 to report that they were advised that their information was used to set up an account with the Illinois Department of Employment Security. The resident did not authorize use of their information or set up an account.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
- A resident in the 2400 block of Seville Circle called police at 9:28 a.m. June 13 to report someone damaged their mailbox during the overnight hours with a firework.
- Police responded to a burglar alarm at 1:37 a.m. June 16 and discovered a broken window at Shabonee Elementary School, 1000 Pfingsten Road. The area was checked and no one involved was located.
- An employee at a business at Lee and Ridgewood roads reported that between June 17-18 someone damaged the ignition of a piece of construction equipment.
SOLICITOR COMPLAINT
A person reported at 7 p.m. June 15 that people were in the area of Rivers Falls Drive and Prestwick Lane were in the area soliciting for pest control services. Officers located people in the area and verified that they did not have valid village permits. Officers informed them how to apply for permits.
THREATS
- An employee at Whole Foods, 840 Willow Road, called police at 3:06 p.m. June 16 to report receiving a telephone call from a confrontational former employee who was requesting their paycheck from a brief period of employment. The responding officer spoke with the former employee and informed them that the store did not want them on the property. The former employee stated that they understood.
- An employee of a business in the 2400 block of Brian Drive resident reported at 6:57 p.m. June 17 that they have been receiving threatening telephone calls from a client who was not satisfied with the handling of an insurance claim.
BATTERY
An employee of a business in the 3000 block of Dundee Road reported at 4:40 p.m. June 16 that they were battered by a co-worker.
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
An employee of a business in the 2000 block of Waukegan Road called police at 8:36 a.m. June 18 to report someone removed landscaping equipment from their work trailer.
FRAUD
A Shermer Road resident reported June 15 that they were advised by their financial institution that their account had been compromised and that several wire transfers had been made. The resident did not authorize the transactions.
