Phony GBN Football Solicitor; Electric Company Ruse: Blotter
A caller pretends to be soliciting funds for Glenbrook North football; 'electric box' workers enter home: Northbrook Police Blotter

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.
INCIDENTS
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES
- A resident in the 2200 block of Techny Road reported at 8:41 a.m. June 25 that someone damaged a window by unknown means.
- A Fairview Lane resident called police at 1:14 p.m. June 26 to report receiving a suspicious call from someone requesting they purchase Amazon gift cards. The resident said that several weeks ago, they contacted a telephone number which they believed was for Amazon regarding the return of a purchase. During the course of that call, the person on the other end told them that they would have to purchase Amazon gift cards to receive credit for the return. The resident terminated this call as they had done with the previous call, and in neither case did they purchase the cards.
- A Dundee Road resident reported at 2:24 p.m. June 30 receiving a telephone call from someone claiming to be soliciting sponsors for the Glenbrook North football team. The resident did not furnish any information and learned that this was a scam.
IDENTITY THEFT

A Prestwick Lane resident reported at 1:42 p.m. June 26 that they had filed for unemployment and learned that the state had the wrong employer information for them. The resident believes that someone used their information without permission for benefits.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO AUTO

A resident in the 400 block of Academy Drive called police at 1:07 a.m. June 27 to report three vehicles had been damaged by unknown person. Each of the vehicles had damage to the tires.
BURGLARY
- A resident in the 3700 block of Bernay Drive reported at 10:13 a.m. June 27 someone entered the residence through an unlocked door and removed items from a bedroom.
- A resident in the 1900 block of Dundee Road called police at 2:50 p.m. July 1 to report someone came to their front door claiming that there was a need to check the resident's electrical breaker box due to the neighbor's power being out. The resident allowed the person to come into the residence. The resident stated that a second person then came into the residence as well. The first person went to the area of the electrical box, while the second person was looking into rooms. The duo who were speaking a language other than English were communicating on walkie-talkies, then both left a short time later. The resident then noticed that drawers had been opened in several rooms. It was unknown what was missing at the time of the report.
TRESPASS TO VEHICLE
A resident in the 3300 block of Highland Road called police at 1:22 p.m. June 29 to report someone entered their possibly unlocked vehicle and rummaged through the interior. Nothing known was taken and there were no signs of forced entry.
BURGLARY TO VEHICLE
A resident in the 1100 block of Dell Road reported at 9:12 a.m. June 29 someone entered their unlocked vehicle and removed a wallet during the overnight hours.
SOLICITOR COMPLAINT
A person called police at 5:58 p.m. June 29 to report a man riding a Segway soliciting for pest control in the area of the 100 block of Trailwood Lane. An officer responded to the area and made contact with the man, who did not have a valid solicitor's permit. The officer contacted the man’s manager and informed them on how to register.
THEFT
A resident in the 2100 block of Shermer Road reported at 9:48 p.m. June 30 several items were missing from their storage unit.
