NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

INCIDENTS

THEFT

  • A resident in the 1100 block of Cedar Lane reported at 9:24 a.m. July 2 signs which they had sold as a fundraiser had been taken without permission. A total of five signs were taken.
  • A client at a gym in the 1100 block of Skokie Boulevard called police on June 28 to report they had lost their Apple Watch at a local gym.

ATTEMPTED BURGLARY TO VEHICLE

A resident in the 2300 block of Woodlawn Road reported at 5:48 a.m. July 4 hearing the sound of glass breaking and observed two males running from the resident's locked vehicle. The resident stated that the two males entered a waiting vehicle and fled the area.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

  • A resident in the 2600 block of Bob O Link Lane called police at 6:42 a.m. July 4 to report someone entered their unlocked vehicle, which also had the keys inside. The person(s) used the garage door opener to enter the garage, entered a second vehicle and removed a purse. The first vehicle, which had the keys inside, was then taken.
  • A resident in the 1200 block of Glen Oak Lane reported at 8:32 a.m. July 4 someone broke a vehicle window and used the garage door opener to enter the garage. Nothing was known missing.
  • A resident in the 1200 bock of Glen Oak Lane called police at 1 p.m. July 4 to report someone entered their unlocked vehicle and used the garage door-opener to enter the garage. Nothing was known missing.
  • A resident in the 2100 block of Woodlawn Drive reported at 10:06 p.m. July 4 that they received a notification that their garage door had opened. The resident asked a neighbor to check the door. It was verified that the garage had been entered by unknown means. The neighbor stated that several vehicles which were in the garage had been entered, however, nothing was known missing.

STOLEN AUTO

A resident in the 2200 block of Woodlawn Road called police at 11:40 a.m. July 4 to report someone entered their vehicle, which had the keys inside, and took the vehicle without permission.

RETAIL THEFT

  • An employee at Lord & Taylor, 1400 block of Lake Cook Road, reported at 5:02 p.m. July 5 a male went to the children's section, gathered a large amount of clothes, then left the store without paying for the items.
  • An employee at Ulta Beauty, 900 block of Willow Road, called police on July 6 to report they saw three females, who were wearing masks, enter the store and proceed to the fragrance aisle. The employee stated that they observed the females place bottles in their bags, then leave the store without paying for the items.
  • An employee at Mariano's, 700 block of Skokie Boulevard, reported at 7:54 a.m. July 9 that they observed a male and female pushing a cart with unbagged groceries to their vehicle. The employee later learned that the couple were observed placing items in their cart, then leaving the store without paying for the items.

DECEPTIVE PRACTICE

A Block Academy resident reported at 5:05 p.m. July 6 that they obtained three checks from a seldom used account without permission.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO PROPERTY

A person called police at 7:33 p.m. July 8 to report there was new spray-painted graffiti on playground equipment at Village Green Playground, 1800 block of Walters Drive.

SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES

A person called police at 10:24 a.m. July 9 to report they came across a jar in the area of Voltz and Waukegan containing 11 bags of cannabis.
