The Dutch Schultz Recreation Area is named after Robert “Dutch” Schultz who served as a commissioner of the Palatine Park District from 1984 to 2009. This area near the golf course was chosen to be named after Dutch due to his efforts at Palatine Hills including improvements in flood control, the irrigation system, the clubhouse and other components of the area. He made great strides leading the environmental efforts of the district during his tenure.
