Veronica “Verna” Helen Arendt, 96

Funeral services for Verna Arendt will begin with prayers on Friday, June 1 at 9 a.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine proceeding to St. Theresa Catholic Church, 465 N. Benton Street, Palatine for funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m.  Interment will follow at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles.  Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 31 at the funeral home.

Verna was born on August 17, 1915 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Leo and Clara (nee Bobrytzke) Gaffke and passed away on Tuesday, May 29.

Some hobbies of Verna included cooking, dancing, especially the polka, driving her convertible and volleyball, but most important in her life was the love she shared with her family.  Verna loved everyone from the bottom of her heart. 

Beloved wife 70 years of the late Edward D. Arendt; loving mother of Arlene (Joe) Soling, Kenneth (Patricia) and Rita Arendt; cherished grandmother of 5; great grandmother of 7; preceded in death by her brother Walter Gaffke.
