• Oct. 1 Meeting Set to Discuss Bridge Options (fwrnews.com) — Romeoville drivers may soon rely even more on the 135th Street Bridge as Lockport's heavily used Ninth Street Bridge heads toward full replacement and long-term closure around 2030. Will County officials are meeting Oct. 1 to revisit the long-discussed Caton Farm Road Corridor as a possible relief route, while coordinating with IDOT on timing so Joliet bridge work and Ninth Street closures don't overlap disastrously.
   

• Underwood Secures More Than $6 Million in Federal Funding to Support Child Care, Nursing Education Flood Prevention, and More in Northern Illinois (house.gov) — Lewis University in Romeoville is receiving more than $103,000 in federal funding to support low-interest loans and loan forgiveness for nursing students who become faculty, potentially strengthening local nursing education. The broader package also sends millions to nearby Joliet, Will County, Ottawa, and Northern Illinois University for child care, mental health, substance abuse treatment, research, and flood prevention projects.
   

• Plainfield Attempted Murder Defendant Moved To Will County Jail After Being Hospitalized For Injuries (patch.com) — Romeoville police helped Plainfield officers during a tense standoff after a woman and juvenile were stabbed in a domestic incident on South Potomac Drive. The suspect, a 39-year-old man from British Columbia, now faces multiple attempted murder and aggravated battery charges and has been moved from the hospital to the Will County Jail as the case proceeds.
