Joliet Teen Jailed on Murder Charge For Gunning Down Decatur Man at Rap Show: Cops
The Joliet teen was among a group that got into an altercation with the locals, police said.

A Joliet teen jailed in Downstate Macon County on a murder charge gunned down a Decatur man at a rap show, police said.
Jevon Barber, 18, allegedly killed 28-year-old Mishari Halbrook and shot four more men who survived the Sunday gun attack at Decatur’s Club Maxey.
The Joliet police captured Barber at his Elizabeth Street home Monday evening.

Halbrook suffered multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Decatur police.
Soon after the shooting, Decatur detectives “determined that a large number of persons had gathered at (Club Maxey) for a rap artist concert type event,” police said. “Persons were not only from Decatur, but from surrounding communities and some ... had travelled a distance to attend.”

Barber belonged to a group of out-of-towners that got into a confrontation with Halbrook’s faction, police said.
U.S. Marshals reportedly worked with the Joliet police in the effort to apprehend Barber.
Barber’s bond was set at $1 million.
