David Brandhandler, a 102-year-old cantor and resident of Evanston, will be one of several cantors honored at the Cantors’ Assembly Convention on Tuesday, May 5 at 8 p.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Westin Hotel.
The evening will feature songs from more than a dozen Chicago-area cantors plus the music of local composers and masterpieces in the “grand Chicago tradition,” according to a community post on the Chicago Tribune website. “The concert will be held in memory of Cantor Abraham Shapiro and will be highlighted by a presentation by the Kol Zimra Community Chorus.”
