Save Some Green by Shopping Green!

"Years ago, when a customer would place a set of teeth on my register table and ask me 'how much are these?' I would ask ... 'Really?'"

The azaleas are in bloom, the birds are chirping, flip-flops are appearing (unless you are 16 years old ... then you were still wearing them in January) and... garage, moving & estate sale season has officially begun!

Garage/yard sales: Typically when a homeowner has de-cluttered and is selling off items that are no longer needed or wanted. Theses sales are generally held in the garage or yard. Garage sales are a great place to find kids play clothes, toys, and decor.

Moving Sales: A sale that is held by a family when the home has sold. Sales can either be conducted in the home or in the garage. Moving sales are a great place to pick up furniture, decor, patio furniture, electronics, clothing & more!

Estate Sales: An estate sale can may be conducted by a company or by a family. "Estate Sale" has become a general term for moving sales, downsizing sales, foreclosure sales, as well as when the owner of the home has passed away. Estate sales are almost always held inside the home. Estate sales are a great place to find all of the above mentioned items, as well as cleaning supplies, general pots, pans & kitchen items, lawn & garden tools and supplies (no one takes the grass seed or bags of top soil with them), seasonal decor, sets of false teeth, jewelry, appliances, light fixtures, etc.

Not to get off the topic, but sets of false teeth?? Years ago, when a customer would place a set of teeth on my register table and ask me "how much are these?" I would ask ... "Really?" After years of hearing tales of artists, Halloween decorators and friends of dentists (who apparently are hard to shop for), I stopped asking and started saying "$5 & have a great weekend!"

Anyway, all of these are great places to find antiques & collectibles for your own collection or to resell and often times for pennies on the dollar! Thursdays & Fridays are going to get you the best selection, but if you stop by a sale Saturday or Sunday afternoon- great bargains are to be found!

If you will be out and about on Saturday here are few you may want to stop at:
