NEW TRIER TOWNSHIP, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Kenilworth, Northfield, Wilmette and Winnetka police departments and court records as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges merely represent accusations by the state, and county prosecutors often choose to drop or reduce them. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless later proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
WILMETTE
INCIDENTS
COMPUTER FRAUD
A resident of the 2400 block of Cardinal Lane reported on Feb. 12 that they had used a website to check the balance on a gift card. But after they provided the information, it was used immediately at a California retailer.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD
A resident in the 2700 block of Orchard Road reported on Feb. 15 that someone had fraudulently used their elderly mother's credit card
RUSE HOME BURGLARY
On Feb. 19, a man dressed in an orange construction vest tricked a resident of the 2600 block of Greenleaf Avenue into letting him come into her house by claiming that he needed to turn her water off. He followed her into the home and she later discovered that someone had stolen personal items.

HOME BURGLARIES
- A resident in the 600 block of Laramie Avenue reported on Feb. 14 that someone broke into their home and stole personal items of unspecified value.
- Someone broke into a home in the 4000 block of Bunker Lane between 2:40 and 4:07 p.m. on Feb. 16 and stole unspecified property.
THEFTS
- A resident who moved from the 1500 block of Sheridan Road to a home in Winnetka reported that numerous items of unspecified value were missing after they hired a moving company to bring things to their new house.
- A parent of a student at Highcrest School, 569 Hunter Road, reported on Feb. 15 that their child's musical instrument had been stolen from the school on Jan. 14.
SHOPLIFTING
- Someone stole some amount of unspecified merchandise from the CVS Pharmacy, 1515 Sheridan Road, at some point on or before Feb. 18. He was last seen getting into the passenger side of a silver Chevrolet.
- Staff at the Walgreens, 3232 Lake Ave., reported around 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 that two unidentified women, on in her early 20s and the other in her late 30s, stole some merchandise of unspecified value and left in a brown Jeep Cherokee headed south on the Edens Expressway.
BIKE THEFTS
- Someone stole a brown Raleigh racing bicycle from an unlocked storage locker in the 400 block of Greenleaf Avenue.
- On Feb. 23, a resident reported catching a male thief in the act while stealing her son's bicycle from her unlocked garage. She yelled at him to stop, he dropped the bicycle and fled in a black SUV.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE
- Someone keyed the side of a Mazda parked in the 300 block of Skokie Court on or before Feb. 11.
- Someone smashed the windows of a Buick in the 400 block of Linden Avenue on or before Feb. 21.
- Someone broke windows on a Ford Explorer while it was parked in the 500 block of Green Bay Road on or before Feb. 21.
- Numerous windows were broken in an apartment complex in the 500 block of 5th Street on or before Feb. 21.
- Two flowerpots were found damaged in the 1100 block of Central Avenue on Feb. 21.
- A resident in the 1100 block of Wilmette Avenue reported on Feb. 21 that someone had damaged flowerpots and signs.
ARRESTS/CITATION
Steven D. Malinowski, 38, of the 6300 block of 26th Street, Berwyn, was around 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 12 to a report that someone was stealing cosmetics merchandise from the Walgreens at 3232 Lake Ave. Police reported they found Malinowski in the 700 block of Lacrosse Avenue and that he was identified as the thief.
Kevin Murphy, 43, of the 1600 block of Central Avenue, Evanston, was arrested on Feb. 14 and charged with misdemeanor computer tampering in connection with an investigation into a June 2021 report from an estranged spouse that he had gained unauthorized access to their personal emails and other personal information. Police reported evidence showed that his computer's IP address had been used to illegally gain remote access to another computer.
Bobby Fenton, 26, of the 9300 block of South Luella Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 5:15 p.m. on Feb. 15 on three bond forfeiture warrants stemming from previous arrests by Oak Park police. Police said they stopped him and found the warrants while investigating a report that he had been trespassing in a condominium unit.
A 34-year-old Zion man was arrested around 5 p.m. on Feb. 22 following a traffic crash that was his fault. He was issued citations for suspended registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
Joshua Davis, 37, of the 7400 block of North Winchester Avenue, Chicago, was arrested on Feb. 24 in the 800 block of Green Bay Road and charged with three counts of criminal damage, two of them felonies, in connection with $756 damage to a car parked in a lot at 420 Linden Ave. He is also charged also stem from about $900 in damage to six windows in an apartment building at 500 W. 5th St. and another apartment building at 541 Green Bay Road. Authorities said Davis was seen on video throwing cinder blocks at the car and the building in the early morning hours of Feb. 21, and officers recognized him as an unhoused man who frequently spends his nights at the Wilmette police department's lobby and regularly files public records requests.
KENILWORTH
INCIDENTS
ARRESTS
A 14-year-old Evanston boy was petitioned delinquent in juvenile court after police said he was responsible for a Feb. 9 garage burglary and illegally had someone else's credit card. In that incident, a purse was stolen from an unlocked garage in the 500 block of Greenwood Avenue and later recovered without the credit cards that had been inside.
GLENCOE
INCIDENTS
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
During the night of Feb. 23 or early morning hours of Feb. 24, someone burglarized the CarMax, 2000 Frontage Road, smashing the windows of five vehicles. Lock boxes with car keys were also stolen, but they have been reprogrammed so they do not work any more. The estimated damage was unknown at the time of the report.
ARRESTS
A 31-year-old Evanston man was arrested around 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 12 and charge with driving without a valid license following a traffic stop near Jackson and Linden avenues. He was also ticketed for speeding.

NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
CAR BURGLARIES/STOLEN GUN
On the morning and early afternoon of Feb. 14, nine Northfield residents reported that someone burglarized their unlocked cars during the previous night. The burglaries took place in the 500 to the 800 block of North Happ Road, the 500 block of Woodland Lane South, the 2000 block of Suffork Road and the 300 block of Jeffrey Street. Burglars also targeted a locked car in the 200 block of Meadowbrook Drive, setting off its alarm around 1:30 a.m. Nothing of value was taken from most of the vehicles, but a gun and several magazines of ammunition that had been left in an unlocked car in the 800 block of North Happ Road was reported stolen.
SHOPLIFTING
A employee at the Walgreens, 1825 Willow Road, reported that shortly before 9:45 p.m. on Feb. 15 that an unidentified man had stolen about $324 worth of hair care products from the store.]
HOME BURGLARY
Someone got into a home in the first block of Hibbard Road through its garage between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Feb. 20 and stole various appliances, as well as items of sentimental value. The total value of the stolen items was estimated to be more than $25,000.
DUMPING
Police got a call about an unidentified man dumping tires underneath the power lines in the 400 block of Central Avenue. Police found four old tires dumped in a grassy knoll behind the businesses there and referred the incident to Commonwealth Edison for follow-up.
IDENTITY THEFT
- A Dickens Street resident reported on Feb. 17 that someone had used their identity to open an unauthorized bank account.
- A Meadowbrook Drive resident reported on Feb. 21 that someone had tried to open a line of credit using their identity on Jan. 31 but had been denied.
ARRESTS
Brenda A. Estrada, 25, of the 3700 block of West 75th Place, Chicago, was arrested around 5:15 a.m. on Feb. 27 and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol — with a driver's license revoked due to previous DUI, misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a revoked license and driving with no valid license following a traffic stop near Willow and Sunset Ridge roads. She was also issued citations for improper lane usage and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

IDENTITY THEFTS
- An Ash Street resident reported on Feb. 16 that they had a few days earlier discovered that someone had used their identity to buy an plane ticket using their American Airlines frequent flier miles valued at more than $1,000.
- A Ridge Road resident reported on Feb. 23 that someone had used their identity to open new, unauthorized accounts with Bank of America, Synchrony Bank and Target.
ARRESTS
A 52-year-old Highland Park man was arrested around 10:15 p.m. on Feb. 18 and charged with driving with a suspended license following a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Willow Road. He was also issued citations for driving an uninsured motor vehicle and speeding.
