GLENCOE, IL — The following information comes from the police departments of Glencoe, Northfield and Winnetka as a record of police activity, incidents reported to the police and those they arrest. Readers are reminded that an arrest is not an indicator of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state, which are often dropped or reduced. All persons named are presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

IDENTITY THEFT

Someone tried to open up a cable TV account using the social security number of a resident in the 100 block of Mary Street, police were told on Nov. 29 at 3:20 p.m., but the charge was blocked by a credit monitoring company.

Someone stole a UPS package that had been delivered to a front porch of a home in the 1100 block of Fairfield Road, police were told Dec. 1 at 5:07 p.m.

FRAUD

Someone purportedly soliciting for an alternative energy supply company requested identifying information from a victim in the 700 block of Greenwood Avenue, police were told on the night of Dec. 1. Later, fraudulent credit charges were found billed to the account.

IDENTITY THEFT

Some unidentified purported alternative energy company solicitors asked for information from a resident in the 1000 block of Elm Ridge Road, police were told Dec. 2 at 3:53 p.m. The resident refused but later received a notification from ComEd that the home's energy supplier had been changed.

THEFT

Someone stole a Christmas light projector from a front yard in the 100 block of Maple Hill Road, police were told Dec. 4 at 11:07 a.m.

IDENTITY THEFT

On Dec. 4 at 2:14 p.m., someone reportedly tried to open up out-of-state accounts but was unsuccessful.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

An 18-year-old Wheeling man was arrested Dec. 1 at 5:16 a.m. near the intersection of Skokie Ridge Road and Elm Ridge Drive and charged with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police did not disclose what, if any, incident that led to his arrest.

A 25-year-old Winnetka man was arrested Dec. 3 at 10:36 p.m. near the intersection of Green Bay Road and Winnetka Avenue and issued a ticket for possession of drug paraphernalia.


NORTHFIELD

INCIDENTS

CAR BURGLARY

Someone got into a 2016 Volkswagon that was parked in the 1700 block of Orchard Lane and stole keys and an iPhone on Nov. 29 around 2:50 p.m.

IDENTITY THEFT

On the morning of Dec. 1, a resident in the 300 block of Jeffery Lane in Northfield reported someone had opened up a fraudulent Sprint account in her name.

IDENTITY THEFT

On the afternoon of Dec. 1, a resident in the 300 block of Shadowood Lane in Northfield reported that several fraudulent credit card applications had been made in his name.

TELEPHONE THREAT

Someone left a threatening message on the answering machine of a resident in the 1700 block of Colonial Lane Dec. 2 at 3:30 p.m.

ARRESTS

A 25-year-old Chicago man was arrested Nov. 28 at 6:23 p.m. in the area of West Frontage and Winnetka roads and charged with driving with out a license after being pulled over for speeding.

A Glenview teen was arrested Dec. 1 at 7:03 p.m. near the area of Waukegan and Winnetka roads for driving 69 mph in a 45 mph zone, cited and released.

Cornell D. Porter, 29, of the 3600 block of West 84th Street, Chicago, was arrested Dec. 2 at 11:40 p.m. and charged with hit and run and driving on a suspended license in the area of Willow and Old Willow roads. Police said he was stopped for leaving the scene of a property damage accident.




WINNETKA

INCIDENTS

HOME BURGLARY

Someone got into an unlocked attached garage in the 0-100 block of Kent Road between Nov. 25 at 9:30 p.m. and noon on Nov. 26. They rummaged through the center console of an unlocked vehicle but there was no report of anything taken.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

Someone damaged a window on the west side of a home in the 800 block of Gordon Terrace on Nov. 27 between noon and 4 p.m., causing $1,000 in damage.

SCHOOL BURGLARY

An employee discovered two people inside New Trier's Winnetka Campus between 2 a.m. and 2:21 a.m. on Nov. 28. Police said the suspects, who reportedly forced their way into the building, fled the area and were unable to be located. Police denied a request for public records about the incident, writing that it would "endanger the life or physical safety" of someone if it were disclosed. » More: Late-Night Intruders Confronted By New Trier Staffer

HOME BURGLARY

More than $5,000 in jewelry and silverware was reported stolen from a home in the 700 block of Oak Street between Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 30 at 11:30 a.m. after someone broke into the home. A purse with cash, credit cards and keys was also taken.

THEFT

Someone stole a package that had been delivered to a home in the 600 block of Locust Street between midnight on Nov. 21 and 6 p.m. on Nov. 25 for an unknown loss.

HOME BURGLARY

Someone entered a home in the 800 block of Boal Parkway around 4 a.m. on Dec. through an unlocked kitchen door and stole prescription pills.

CAR BURGLARY

Someone stole a purse from a car parked at the Winnetka Ice Area on Dec. 2 between 5:45 and 7:30 p.m. The total loss, including a wallet with cards and cash, a cosmetic bag and sunglasses, was reported to be more than $2,000.

ARRESTS/CITATIONS

A 57-year-old Skokie man was arrested Nov. 29 at 7:44 a.m. in the 100 block of Woodland Avenue and charged with driving on a suspended license. He was also ticketed for driving an uninsured motor vehicle and disobeying a traffic control device.

A 53-year-old Chicago man was arrested Nov. 29 at 10:35 p.m. in the 0-100 block of Green Bay Road and charged with driving without a valid license. He was also ticketed for not having a light on his back license plate.
