Car Stolen From Winnetka Found Damaged On South Side: Blotters
Incidents and arrests from the Winnetka, Glencoe and Northfield police blotter for Oct. 4 - Oct. 10.

WINNETKA, IL — The following information comes from the Glencoe, Winnetka and Northfield police departments as a record of police activity and incidents reported to the police. Criminal charges represent merely accusations by the state and are often dropped or reduced. updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Anyone arrested is innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

INCIDENTS
STOLEN CAR
Someone stole an unlocked car from the 800 block of Bryant Avenue between 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 3 and 5:19 a.m. on Oct. 4. It was later found in the area of 60th Place and South Union Avenue in Chicago's Englewood neighborhood with minor damage to the interior and front end. A key fob and cash had been left inside and were not found, for a reported loss of $550.

(UNLOCKED) CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone stole a wallet from a car parked in the 1000 block of Fisher Lane between 10 p.m. on Oct. 3 and 6 a.m. on Oct. 4 for a loss of $90.
- Someone got into an unlocked car in the 1200 block of Forest Glen Drive between 3 p.m. on Oct. 6 and 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 7, stealing about $200 in cash.
- A resident in the 1000 block of Fisher Lane reported that someone rummaged through an unlocked car in the driveway between 2 p.m. on Oct. 6 and 10:36 a.m. on Oct. 7. Nothing was reported stolen.

INCIDENTS
THEFT
A backpack leaf blower was reported stolen from the 100 block of Euclid Avenue around 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 28.
UNLOCKED CARS TARGETED
- Between 2:30 and 3 a.m. on Oct. 4, three unlocked cars in the 1100 block of of Terrace Court – a Lexus and two Toyotas – and a Honda in the 1100 block of Old Elm Lane were illegally entered. Nothing was reported stolen.
- In the early morning hours of Oct. 7, burglars returned to the 1100 block of Terrace Court, rifling through a different Lexus and a Honda without taking anything. The same morning, someone also rifled through a Mercedes in the 400 block of Palos Road. None of the cars were locked.
'SECRETS' BITCOIN SCAM
A Hohlfelder Road resident reported on the afternoon of Oct. 8 that they had gotten an email threatening to release embarrassing information unless a Bitcoin payment was made. The resident did not pay and reported the email to police.
CRIMINAL DAMAGE TO FENCE
A fence and for sale sign was reported damaged on the morning of Oct. 10 in the 500 block of Grove Street.
ARRESTS/CITATIONS
Jan Bak, 28, of the 300 block of Park Avenue in Glencoe, was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 4 at his home and charged with domestic battery in connection with an incident that evening. Just over a year earlier, he was arrested at the same address for the same offense.
NORTHFIELD
INCIDENTS
BAD CHECK
Staff at a car dealership in the 700 block of West Frontage Road reported at 10:48 a.m. on Oct. 3 that a customer had paid them with $500 check with non-sufficient funds.
FRAUD
Police are investigating a report by a representative of New Trier High School on the afternoon of Oct. 3 an incident involving a potentially fraudulent check.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Around 2 a.m. on Oct. 5, officers discovered a Hyundai in the 200 block of Churchill Street with a rear door left open in a driveway. More than $200 were stolen from the apparently unlocked car.
- Someone got into two unlocked Mercedes in the 100 block of Riverside Drive during the overnight hours of Oct 4-5, stealing about $70 in cash and property.
- Someone got into an apparently unlocked Land Rover in the 200 block of Dickens Street during the night of Oct. 4-5, but nothing was reported stolen.
- Someone stole various credit and ID cards from an unlocked Toyota in the 200 block of Dickens Street during the overnight hours of Oct. 4-5.
FRAUD
A Wagner Road resident reported a possible scam involving a payment related to an ad on Craigslist.
