10 Jefferson Teachers Get $100 Gift Cards

The teachers were randomly selected to receive $100 Sam's Club/Walmart gift cards Friday from Sam's Club.

Ten teachers received $100 gift cards to spend in their classrooms Friday. The gift cards are good at and Walmart.

Every Sam's Club location was required to give out the gift cards to schools in their target areas. is in the target area. Jefferson Jr. High was chosen from District 68's seven schools in a random drawing. 

The teachers selected to receive gift cards were also chosen in a random drawing. They also received a bouquet of flowers. Sam's Club provided cake for all of the teachers.

The following teachers received gift cards:

  • Kameron Cluchey (Social Worker)
  • Linda Costigan (Speech/Language)
  • Dreama Mueller (Physical Education)
  • Renee Mindy (Learning Disabilities)
  • Rodney Napper (Reading Specialist)
  • Nancy Oloier (Learning Disabilities)
  • Nell Pieper (Multi-Needs)
  • Jennifer Riskus (Language Arts)
  • Kim Stransbury (Social Studies)

In all, Sam's Club provided $4.5 million to teachers. According to national statistics, teachers spend $500 annually out-of-pocket on school supplies and $300 annually on food and snacks.
