100 Students Inducted into Jefferson's New National Junior Honor Society

About 100 students were the first to be inducted into the school's National Junior Honor Society Wednesday night. 

Jefferson started a chapter of the honor society last fall, though the organization started in 1921. 

The society serves to honor outstanding junior high students in the areas of character, scholarship, leadership, service and citizenship. 

Requirements for membership include:

• Attend all mandatory NJHS chapter meetings
• Complete 20 hours of community service per year (two hours of which are performed at a school)
• Complete an NJHS application
• Pay membership dues
• Maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA.
