Chicago Pet Show at the Darien Sportsplex

Come join us at the Chicago Pet Show in Darien.  Rescues, shelters, and humane societies will be showing cats, dogs, and other pets for adoption.  Dr. Amy will be speaking at the following times at this event:

Saturday, September 10th

10:45-11:15  "The Right Paw"- This seminar is for the new puppy owner who wants to get started on the right paw.  We'll talk about and answer questions on feeding, exercise, crate training, and how to handle some common puppy behaviors such as chewing, jumping, and mouthing.

1:45-2:15  "Pet Parenting 101"-  We'll talk about basic information on how to keep pets healthy both physically and mentally--including exercise, nail and ear care, preparing for grooming, traveling, tooth brushing, and basic preventative care.

11:30 - 12:00  "The Golden Years"- Depending on their size, many pets are considered senior or approaching senior at age 7.  We will discuss what to expect as pets age, what's normal, and what pet owners can do to make their pets more comfortable and remain healthy as they age.

2:30-3:00  "Finally a Forever Home"- We'll discuss what to expect when adopting a pet from a shelter and how to deal with some of the challenges that can arise if a shelter pet has "baggage".
