Police Searching for Man who Impersonated Police Officer

A man frisked another and stole his debit card in the Waterbury apartment complex Tuesday night.

A man impersonated a police officer Tuesday night, frisked another man and stole his debit card, according to .

The victim left his residence in the Waterbury apartment complex around 8:30 p.m. and entered the complex parking lot.

He was approached by a man who displayed what appeared to be a badge and handcuffs, police said. The man stopped the victim and began to search him, taking his debit card and fleeing on foot.

Woodridge police are investigating the incident, which took place in the 2500 block of Spring Street. The complex is located off of Janes Avenue near 83rd Street. 

Woodridge police officers typically display the department's emblem on their clothing, police said. There is a plain clothes unit that does not have an emblem but will display a badge. You can ask for identification to verify he or she is a police officer.
