Should Woodridge Schools Offer All-Day Kindergarten?
Valley View School District just approved an all-day program. Should Districts 66 or 68?

The district will spend $12,320,590 for renovations needed to renovate all 12 school buildings for the program. The district will also need to hire 20 to 24 kindergarten teachers. By law, the district must also continue to offer half-day kindergarten.
Neither nor have plans to offer full-day kindergarten.

District 66 discussed the issue a few years ago but decided it was not viable at the time, according to Secretary to the Superintendent Joann Blaze. However, she said, with a new superintendent coming to the district this year, the issue might be considered again.
Woodridge School District 68 have not had formal discussions about full-day kindergarten, according to Assistant Superintendent of Personnel Pat Broncato.

While full-day kindergarten is "a viable program," he said, the district would have concerns about space limitations.
