Trial Postponed (Again) for Mother Charged with Endangering Children

A Jan. 24 court hearing has been scheduled after both an October and Jan. 4 trial were postponed.

For the second time, a scheduled trial has been postponed in the case of a Woodridge mother .

Sunitha Budithi reportedly went outside to move her car when an unattended candle ignited her apartment on Double Eagle Drive. The candle was part of a shrine inside a closet, according to and court records. Firefighters arrived to find two children - one reported to be a six-year-old girl - inside the apartment.

Both were taken to Edward Hospital, where they were treated and released for smoke inhalation.

Budithi faces two counts of child endangerment and plead not guilty to the charges June 21. 

The case was set for an October trial but was continued to Jan. 4. The most recent trial date was postponed over a protective order on certain records. A Jan. 24 hearing has been scheduled.
