What's Next: DGS Senior Cody Tucker Headed to Military

We're recognizing area seniors and asking them what's next. Cody Tucker graduated from Downers Grove South in June and has enlisted in the Marines. 

1. What activities were you involved in during the school year? 

I was involved in numerous activities in high school. DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America), FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America), ACE (Athletes Committed to Excellence), WDGC88.3, football, wrestling and gymnastics. 

2. What are your favorite memories from high school? 

I would have to say going to state for DECA and the (school) spirit weeks were pretty cool, as well. But what my most favorite memory was when Mr. Medina (physical education teacher at South) would beat on me in front of the other kids. Of course it was always just fooling around, though. 

3. What are you looking forward to this summer? 

I am looking forward to recruit training, or as others like to say boot camp. I have been training for this for about two years now, and I have been itching to go. 

4. What will you be doing this summer? 

I will be in recruit training learning how to protect my country, and also perfecting myself as well. 

5. What's next for you after summer ends? 

After my summer is over, boot camp will come to an end as well. The next step after that is something called ITB (Infantry Training Battalion) and that's something that I am really looking forward to.
