The move follows felony charges against Superintendent LaMont Cole tied to his earlier Metro Council tenure, though he maintains his innocence while continuing to lead the school system.
   

• Man arrested after interstate shooting in East Baton Rouge Parish, deputies say (wafb.com) — Deputies in East Baton Rouge Parish arrested a 22-year-old man after an interstate shooting that injured a passenger in another car near Pecue Lane and Woodridge Avenue. Investigators say a traffic dispute that began on Bluebonnet Boulevard escalated onto the interstate, where shots were fired from a Chevrolet into a Nissan sedan.
   

• Baton Rouge events offer free health screenings for men (wafb.com) — Men in Baton Rouge just had access to free health screenings at two local events, including cancer checks at a barbershop and broader tests at Pennington Biomedical. Organizers and survivors hope the comfortable setting encourages more men here to prioritize both physical and mental health and get regular prostate and other screenings.
