📰 News we're reading
• Missing since 2023 from Kenner, Louisiana: Drucilla Patterson vanished at age 16 (newsbreak.com) — A young woman who vanished from her job on Williams Boulevard in Kenner in March 2023 is still missing, and police are asking for any new leads. Now 20, she's classified as an endangered missing person, and residents are urged to contact Kenner Police or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with any information.
• Squadron receive 2026 first-round pick in trade with Kings (crescentcitysports.com) — Kenner's own Laketown Squadron, the Pelicans' G League affiliate, just picked up a 2026 first-round draft pick from the Stockton Kings in exchange for the returning rights to Trhae Mitchell. The move reshapes the team's draft position ahead of the Oct. 24 G League Player Draft, giving local fans something new to watch as the roster takes shape.
• LA: New Orleans RTA search firm removed Jefferson Parish candidate from CEO shortlist (masstransitmag.com) — Kenner residents are indirectly affected as the New Orleans RTA searches for a new CEO and debates how much weight to give local candidates, including a Kenner-based transit executive dropped from the semifinalist list. The outcome could influence long-term regional transit coordination, especially since Kenner left the RTA service area in 2024 but still depends on interconnected Jefferson Parish transit decisions.
