This bulletin covers northern and central Maryland, the District of Columbia and northern Virginia. The alert will last from 9 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday. The heaviest snow is expected between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. when the flakes may fall at 1 inch per hour.

"Plan on slippery road conditions," the National Weather Service said, warning that the system could affect Friday morning commutes. "Slow down and use caution while traveling. When venturing outside, watch your first few steps taken on steps, sidewalks, and driveways, which could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury."
