Big Night DC New Year's Eve Extravaganza: 9 p.m.-3 a.m. on Dec. 31 to Jan. 1This massive event features 15 themed party areas, five dance floors, a lineup of live music, party favors and view of fireworks over the Potomac River. First Night Alexandria: 6 p.m.-1 a.m. on Dec. 31 to Jan. 1. Alexandria's New Year's Eve celebration celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. From 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., check out live music at 25 indoor venues lining King Street from the Metro station to the waterfront. Younger residents can find entertainment at four Kids Karnivals from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. with their own creative countdown. The Kids Karnivals are planned at Charles Houston Recreation Center, Washington Street United Methodist Church, Mount Vernon Recreation Center and William Ramsay Recreation Center. Learn more.
