Harford Firefighters Battled Multiple Blazes on Easter

Weather officials said dry and windy conditions increased threat of fires Sunday.

Firefighters responded to several fires in Harford County on Easter Sunday.

The National Weather Service reported there was an increased risk of fires Sunday afternoon and early evening due to dry air and breezy winds.

  • Before noon, members of the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company were called to Eden Mill Road, where a large field was on fire, according to the fire company, which requested additional personnel to help put it out.
  • While Jarrettsville was working the blaze on Eden Mill Road, the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company was called to assist with a woods fire in the 1600 block of West Jarrettsville Road.
  • At 3:30 p.m., a large field fire damaged a home and out buildings in the 3700 block of Peach Orchard Road north of Darlington. Several fire companies also responded to that incident. Read more about it here.
  • The Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company was called to Phillips Mill Road, where a field was on fire.

The risk of fires was also present Saturday, when local fire companies were extremely busy as well.

Cews from Bel Air responded to two house fires, one building fire, one field fire and two crashes involving injuries between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, according to Rich Gardiner of the Bel Air Volunteer Fire Company.
