House Fire in Darlington Displaces Family: Officials
The blaze reportedly started in a storage shed, spread to home.
An electrical fault caused a weekend fire that displaced a family in Darlington, according to the Office of the State Fire Marshal.
Approximately 20 firefighters from Darlington, Level, Delta-Cardiff and Whiteford responded to put out the fire, which broke out at a storage shed off Castleton Road at 8:23 p.m. on Saturday, March 28, the fire marshal reported.
Flames had engulfed the pump house/shed when crews arrived and were spreading to the wall and roof of a residence attached to the structure, according to the Darlington Volunteer Fire Company.

It took crews approximately 5 minutes to put out the fire in the 1600 block of Castleton Road. Firefighters remained there for approximately two hours checking for hot spots and clearing the scene, the fire company reported.
There was $20,000 in structural damage; an additional $5,000 worth of items inside were lost in the fire as well, according to the fire marshal.

As a result of the blaze, the family that lived in the home was displaced and was being assisted by other relatives, the fire marshal reported.
The fire marshal ruled the fire accidental as the result of an electrical fault in the pump house/storage shed.
