Netflix Announces New 'House of Cards' Release Date

Netflix timed its 'House of Cards' announcement to coincide with the Presidential inauguration.

Netflix will release the fifth season of its original show "House of Cards" later than usual.

The show has traditionally dropped a season's worth of episodes in February or March.

Season five will hit the airwaves of Netflix on May 30, the show's creators announced Friday. The timing of the announcement coincided with the inauguration of Donald J. Trump as the 45th President of the U.S.

Producers have been filming the political drama in Harford County, north of Baltimore, since the show began in 2012.

"House of Cards" operates a sound stage based out of a warehouse in Joppa and has used local sites to film various scenes including Harford Community College, the Havre de Grace Library, Liriodendron Mansion and a Level Road antique store, among others.
