BEL AIR, MD — It's been more than two months since 37-year-old mother of five Rachel Morin was found dead Aug. 6 near the Ma and Pa Trail near Bel Air. One of the repercussions of her unsolved murder is that her children are no longer living in the same home, a family member said.

Michael Morin, one of Rachel Morin's siblings, told The Messenger that her children can no longer live under the same roof. Two remain at the family home, while two other children are living at another home miles away. Her oldest child lives with their father.

One of the children is on the autism spectrum and has been taking their mother's loss especially hard, Michael Morin told The Messenger.

"The stuff she has said would rip your heart out," he said.

According to investigators, the suspect is a Hispanic man in his early to mid-20s and estimated to be 5’9" and weighing around 160 pounds. While detectives continue to follow up on leads, the Morin family has being working with a law firm on a digital campaign to educate people who may not speak English as a first language about Morin's death. Their hope is to draw out additional leads.

More than $53,000 has been raised for the family on GoFundMe, too.

Harford County Sheriff Jeffrey Gahler has publicly said he believes the suspect could be a serial killer.

"My concern is that this killer is escalating. My investigators and I both firmly believe that if we do not apprehend this individual, he will again, if he has not done so already. And, if given the chance, he certainly could become a serial killer," Gahler said. "Until he is in custody, this suspect poses a threat to every community in our country and maybe outside," he said.

The sheriff encourages people to continue sharing the video of the suspect and continue sending legitimate tips to rmtips@harfordsheriff.org.
