4A Girls Basketball Final: Which MoCo HS Took The Title?
The championship game for the girls Class 4A state basketball title went to Walt Whitman High School this year.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — The girls Class 4A basketball title was clinched Wednesday night by Walt Whitman High School.
The top-ranked Whitman team bested Richard Montgomery High School in a 51-40 match. The win marked the Whitman Vikings' first state championship since 2016.
Had the Richard Montgomery Rockets won the final, it would've been their first title since 1996.

Kathryn Marquardt, a senior guard for the Vikings, told Bethesda Today that the win marked a special moment for the team.

"We all played for each other and I think that’s what makes this team so incredibly special," she said.
The championship was held on Wednesday after being postponed from Monday, when severe weather prompted early school dismissals, tornado watches and warnings and serious roadway flooding.
