Bethesda Motorcyclist Dies in Crash: Police

Montgomery County Police have identified the man who died in the accident, and the driver of the other vehicle.

A Bethesda man died Sunday afternoon when his motorcycle was hit by a turning car, according to Montgomery Couny Police.

The fatal crash happened just before 1 p.m. at the intersection of Old Georgetown Road and Lone Oak Drive.

Investigators say a 2005 Honda Accord driven by Barbara Ann Wilkerson, 85, of the 9500 block of Linden Avenue in Bethesda, was northbound on Old Georgetown Road. As Wilkerson’s Honda turned left onto Lone Oak Drive, police say it struck a 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle that was southbound on Old Georgetown Road.

The motorcycle driver was taken to Suburban Hospital, where he died from his injuries. Authorities identified the victim as Gary Bird Seward, 52, of the 7200 block of Greentree Road in Bethesda.

The investigation is ongoing; no charges have been filed.
