Closings in Montgomery County Because of Weekend Blizzard
Snowstorm causes schools, animal shelters, liquor stores and more to close early in Montgomery County.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD – With the county under a blizzard warning from Friday afternoon to 6 a.m. Sunday, many schools and organizations have announced closings:
- County-run liquor stores will close at 5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22 and remain closed Saturday, Jan. 23.
- Montgomery County Animal Services will remain closed through Sunday, Jan. 24. Shelter staff will be providing around-the-clock care to the shelter animals.
- Outpatient clinic and elective surgeries scheduled for after 1 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22 at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center are canceled.
- The USO Warrior & Family Center at Bethesda will reopen at 9 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25.
- All scheduled Montgomery County Recreation programs and activities are canceled through the weekend.
- The Metro rail system will shut down Friday, Jan. 22 beginning at 11 p.m. and remain closed through the weekend. The last Metrobuses will complete their 5 p.m. routes on Friday, Jan. 22 and then suspend service Saturday, Jan. 23 and Sunday, Jan. 24.
- Montgomery County Public Schools are closed through the weekend.
- All community-use activities in schools will be canceled through the weekend.
- Locust Grove Nature Center will be closed on Saturday, Jan. 23.
- All Montgomery County Public Library programs scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23 and Sunday, Jan. 24 are cancelled.
- Meadowside Nature Center will be closed on Friday, Jan. 22.
- Montgomery County Ride On bus service will be suspended at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22 and will be shut down through the weekend.
- Rockville City Hall and all city facilities are closed Friday, Jan. 22 and will remain closed through at least Saturday, Jan. 23.
- The Montgomery County Circuit Court is closed Friday, Jan. 22.
- All Montgomery County Committee meetings and the Council’s State Legislation meeting have been cancelled on Monday, Jan. 25.
