Giant Stores Host Food Drive Around Montgomery County

From Giant Food: GIANT HOSTS FOOD DRIVES AT MONTGOMERY COUNTY STORES TO BENEFIT MANNA FOOD CENTER

WHAT: Giant Food of Landover, Md. will host food drives at all 27 Montgomery County, Md. locations on Saturday, January 14 and Sunday, January 15, in support of the Manna Food Center. Volunteers from Manna will be at each store location collecting nonperishable and most-wanted items.

Items on this year’s most-wanted items list include:

• Canned fruits and vegetables in an array of colors to provide a variety of vitamins and minerals

• Canned lean meats as a good source of protein and canned or dry beans for added fiber

• 100% whole grains and grain products

• Additional healthful items including boxed or evaporated milk, vegetable oils, tea and coffee, macaroni and cheese, vegetarian items, infant cereals, and baby food/formula.

Giant’s long time partner, the Manna Food Center’s mission is to eliminate hunger in Montgomery County through food distribution, education and advocacy. The center provides food to 40,000 individuals annually and helps distribute donations to soup kitchens, food pantries, and emergency shelters.
