Memorial Service for Alex Murk, Calvin Li to Be Held Tuesday Night

Wootton High School will host a memorial for two recent graduates killed in crash that critically injured a third alum.

A memorial service for two recent graduates killed in a car wreck will be held tonight atnWootton High School in Rockville. The memorial is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, in the school auditorium.

Alexander Murk, 18, of Potomac and Calvin Jia-Xing Li, 18, of Rockville died Thursday night after they and two other friends attended an underage drinking party, according to Montgomery County Police. Neither teen was wearing a seat belt.

“It’s a parent’s worst nightmare. I pulled into driveway with two officers who told me my son was dead,” Alexander Murk’s father said at a vigil for the teens Sunday at the crash scene.

The foursome’s car left the road, struck a tree and flipped over in North Potomac. Police said they are investigating whether speed, alcohol use and a lack of seatbelt use were factors in the deadly crash.

Authorities say Samuel Joseph Ellis, 18, of North Potomac was the driver. Ellis was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The front seat passenger has not been identified by police, but was treated and released from the hospital.

The Murk family announced there will be a visitation/wake for Alex. Calling hours will be from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, at Pumphrey’s Funeral home, 7557 Wisconsin Ave. in Bethesda.

Calvin Li Services

Li’s body will rest in Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home at 11800 New Hampshire Ave. in Silver Spring. Viewing visitation will be Thursday, July 2, from 4 to 8 p.m.

Memorial service will be held in the Chinese Bible Church of Maryland, 4414 Muncaster Mill Road in Rockville. The service time will be on Sunday, July 5, from 2 to 4 p.m.
