Montgomery County Police Officer Kyle Olinger, who was shot while on duty and paralyzed in 2003, died as a result of his injuries.

BETHESDA, MD — Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan on Monday announced that all U.S. and state flags will be lowered to half-staff in honor of a fallen Montgomery County police officer.
"Lowering the flags is the least we can do to pay tribute to the life and memory of a true hero, Officer Kyle Olinger," said Hogan. "Our prayers are with his family, friends, and loved ones at this time of mourning. May he rest in peace."
Officer Olinger — who was shot while on duty and paralyzed in 2003 — died on April 18 as a result of his injuries, according to the governor's office.
